ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court dismissed a petition about constitution of the election commission after assurance from the government.
Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry in his remarks during hearing of the case on Monday said that the government was violating the constitution. An important constitutional body has been incomplete after the approval of the 18th Constitutional Amendment.
The Chief Justice asked the Attorney General, why the election commission not functioning according to the constitution. Attorney General Maulvi Anwarul Haq said that a parliamentary committee was working on formation of the election commission and assured that the commission will be constituted soon.
